Tips for Improving Your Sexual Health

Sexual health is an important aspect of lifestyle medicine, and at the clinic we are here to help.
Menopause and andropause can be associated with decreased lubrication, sensation, or a physical /autoimmune issue like lichen planus. We have a few tips for improving your sexual health…
An alternative to Hormone Replacement Therapy
We do not recommend long term hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for everyone and follow the Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology Guidelines (SOGC). Long term studies by the Canadian Cancer Society (2003) have shown “women on combined HRT have no improvement in quality of life; a higher risk of developing dementia; more breast cancer diagnoses, with tumours found at higher stages; an increased frequency of abnormal mammograms, beginning after only 1 year; and an increased risk of coronary heart disease, apparent after only 1 year of treatment.” (Journal of the National Cancer Institute, 2004). Progesterone therapy alone is not the solution either as 75% of estrogen receptor positive breast cancers are also progesterone receptor positive (BCCA).
Dr. Anna created a lubrication cream for those suffering from dyspareunia (painful intercourse) and lack of lubrication. This is scent-free, toxin-free, hormone-free, synthetic-free, and locally-made water based product which is similar to our natural lubrication and can help with intimacy.

An Option for Sexual Dysfunction
Men and women both want to feel confident and comfortable when it comes to their sexual health. For those who are wanting to help with erections and girth, we offer PRP and filler for the penis. PRP originally was used in wound healing, dentistry, and treatment of sports industries; however, each year PRP is gaining popularity for aesthetic concerns including sexual dysfunction. PRP comes from your own blood and stimulates cellular regeneration and tissue repair – the platelets from your blood releases growth factors and other proteins. This treatment is combined with dermal filler with great aesthetic results (not evidence based for “sensation” or improved blood flow).

Breasts and Décolettage Enhancement
We also offer dermal fillers for breasts and décolettage for a fuller look or for those women who have removed their breast implants and have residual skin laxity.
This is an expensive option, and not a permanent solution, but for those who do not wish to undergo surgery it is always an option.
