Intense pulsed light (IPL) is a cosmetic skin treatment that helps reduce signs of aging, remove unwanted hair, lighten darker patches of skin, and improve the appearance of scars, spider veins and redness.

IPL works in a similar way to laser therapy; where laser therapy delivers a single wavelength of light energy, IPL delivers multiple wavelengths. 

As we age, we may notice small veins and generalized redness in the face, especially on our nose, chin and cheeks. Time spent in the sun can exacerbate this redness. Spider veins, broken capillaries, cherry angiomas, red spots and rosacea can all contribute to a ruddy, weathered appearance.

The IPL treatment can target the hemoglobin in these areas. These engorged or “broken” capillaries absorb the intense light, which constricts them so they are no longer viable. This drastically reduces redness in the area almost immediately. If you have a lot of “targets” for the IPL, it may take a few treatments to clear the skin. Thankfully, this treatment is non-invasive and it can be done repeatedly.

The treatment takes approximately 30 minutes, and you can be on your way.

We recommend a treatment every 3 – 4 weeks to clear the skin. This allows the skin to heal and flush away the waste between treatments. You will notice continual clearance during the rest period, while your body naturally removes the pigment under the skin. A wonderful side effect of this dermal healing response is the stimulation of fibroblast which gives the treated skin a refreshed look and a natural glow.
